Each zone is amplified through this Amp but there is also a line out where you can hook up an optional amp for more power/speakers. I have 4 speakers running through 1 output bridged and it is plenty of power for the 4 speakers. If you are going to use the key pads you are going to need cat 5/6 wire run out to where the volume control knobs are. If you have the same pathway but almost 2 separate pathways, you should be fine. Run whole house audio with 6 zones in the house with 2 ceiling speakers each (any recommendations?!) + 2 zones inside with 4 ceiling speakers each. Then I want to run an outside zone with an additional 8 speakers and THEN bring the sound to my barn that will have 1 more zone but will include around 10 wall or ceiling speakers . I have installed this unit in multiple customer homes and I have to say for the price you get your money's worth out of it. The volume is loud and I even bridge a few zones and it worked just fine. The only deference in the higher end models is better wall keypads and better interfaces with third party devices.
